First Take (monthly)
Launched in 2004, First Take, a free screening of local and international amateur works now happening every first Monday of the month, is a platform for new filmmakers and anyone who is interested in film-making to meet, exchange ideas and show their works. Plus a Q&A session with the filmmakers – submissions are welcome all year round!

Music & Experimental Film Festival (biennial)
The 1st Music & Experimental Film Festival will kick off in March 2010!
The festival will showcase experimental films, music videos and music related films. Catch trippy psychedelic experimental films, indie bands on celluloid and other musical MTV-ish works on the big screen. Experimentation is the keyword and the basis of all things crazy, weird or groovy!
The festival invites submissions from both international and local filmmakers.
Singapore Indie Doc Fest (biennial)
Our biennial documentary film festival offers some of the most edgy, gripping and resonant independent documentaries in the world today, with a good mix of local and international entries of both feature length and short documentaries.
This festival is open to all international and local entries of independent documentary shorts or features. The 4th edition returns in March 2011.

Reel Revolution (annual)
A six-week programme that challenges youths to create video essays on social issues, Reel Revolution inaugurated in June 2006. With film workshops, exposure talks, mentorship with filmmakers, and a chance to discuss the topic at-length at the Powwow and Immersion. Visit www.revolution.youth.sg for information. Reel Revolution returns in July 2010.
Singapore Short Film Festival (annual)
The Singapore Short Film Festival is Singapore’s only dedicated international short film festival that showcases award-winning short films from around the world!
Previously a biennial film festival, the programme has grown to become an annual event and will incorporate the long-running Asian Film Symposium (AFS) which promotes dialogue and exchange while examining industry trends and the raising young film talents in Asia through S-Express, the Traveling Short Film series that reaches Singapore, Thailand & Indonesia.
This festival is open to all international and local entries of independent shorts. The 5th edition returns in September 2009. The programme is also part of Septfest, The Substation’s month-long festival in celebration of our anniversary in September.

Asian Film Symposium (now part of the Singapore Short Film Festival)
Previously part of Septfest, The Substation’s month-long festival in celebration of our anniversary in September, the AFS is a platform for dialogue and exchange, with the S-Express Travelling Short Film series from the region, and others.
Returns September 2009, under the Singapore Short Film Festival.
