What's On
Programmes and events at The Substation are diverse, ranging from traditional dance to contemporary dance and theatre; from established visual artists holding exhibitions to new, young poets holding readings; from gigs featuring local rock bands to regional conferences on arts and culture; from international film festivals to screenings of works by first-time filmmakers.
While The Substation is open to all kinds of arts and cultural practices, we have a preference for work that challenges and explores. We are also committed to encouraging a diversity of voices in Singapore arts and culture, and to providing support for young, emerging artists and arts groups.
Events at The Substation are of three types:
- shows presented & organised by The Substation
- shows co-presented by The Substation in partnership with other artists or arts groups
- and shows presented by independent artists or arts groups, who rent our facilities for their activities.

SUB_SPACE: THE VISUAL ARTS PROGRAMME OF THE SUBSTATION
Our visual arts programme encourages open-minded inquiry and critical engagement between artists and audiences. sub_space is a provocation, a platform, a process.
PERFORMANCE LAB: THE PERFORMANCE ART PROGRAMME OF THE SUBSTATION
This programme gives practitioners of theatre, dance, and performance art the space and time to explore, research, refine their craft and develop new work. Expect to see physical theatre, text-based drama, cross-disciplinary collaborations, performance art, work-in-progress showings, workshops and forums.
