Singular Drone Box is a collaboration between Zai Kuning (onistudio), Shaiful (prohibtedproject) and The Substation. The event includes an exhibition of selected drawings and posters, as well as two other music events (Congress of Weird Fools and Kami Masih Muda Fest) .

The Amino Acid Orchestra will perform at the opening reception on Thursday 20 January, as well as on Thursday 27 January at 8pm. Tickets are $15 from the Box Office. Contact Mish’aal at 6337 7800 mishaal@substation.org

Zaireeka is a four-CD album released by the experimental rock band The Flaming Lips in 1997. Associate Artists Song-Ming Ang’s Listening Party will attempt to use this album to recreate an intended surround sound experience by playing multiple copies at the same time on different audio systems.

Founded by Robert Voisey, president of Vox Novus new music society, 60×60 is a series of electroacoustic concerts that travel internationally. A one-hour ‘tape’ concert is created from 60 works from 60 different composers, each composition lasting 60 seconds.

‘alternatives’ is neither a performance nor an exhibition. The project is based on Bani Haykal’s preliminary findings on alternative systems for music and storytelling. It is a platform for dialogue, workshops and live recording sessions by local musicians and audiences, incorporating / constructing / deconstructing his findings thus far.

The Tribal Gathering of Tongue Tasters is The Substation’s new music and sonic arts programme, which will present a curated series of performances on the first Saturday of every month from October to December 2010. The Substation has invited a selection of the finest emerging and established sound artists, bands and collectives to challenge the deifnition of home-grown music and performance. After this final performance for 2010, Tribal Gathering of Tongue Tasters will resume in April 2011.
