Etiquette, an annual event in its second installment, is a multidisciplinary showcase of art, writing and film, created by, and about women. Addressing gender as a subject of discourse, it uses art as a tool to create spaces within which critical and creative conversations can take place. Featuring an all-female crew of over 30 artists, writers, filmmakers and curators, this year’s event gets down and dirty with pertinent women’s issues that people would rather not discuss at the dinner-table.

Big Bio

Big Bio
By Eileen Reynolds
Date: Friday 4 – Sunday 20 March 2011
Venue: The Substation Gallery
This is an InHouse event

Reception: Thursday 3 March, 7:30pm

Big Bio is a film project about a scientist bringing life to a clay child, and uses the classic stop motion animation technique.

As the term animation means “to breathe life into”, this “biotechnological Madonna” literally plays a god-like role as she creates a film which is simultaneously about the beginnings of life. Big Bio brings to mind a modern day Frankenstein, Mary Shelly’s 19th century novel. This science fiction exhibition consists of digital prints, a short film, and puppets.
