3rd Singapore Short Film Awards

The Singapore Short Film Awards (SSFA) is an annual event which promotes and recognises excellence in short films. The SSFA programme includes a week-long schedule of film screenings, bringing you the best Singaporean shorts produced over the last year. There will also be discussions, masterclasses and parties. Every film submitted, along with award nominees will get a one-time screening at this event. All screenings are free to attend and no advanced booking is required. The awards ceremony will be held on 10 March 2012 and is by invitation only.

First Take is a popular monthly screening of new local short films, followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers. First Take is a platform for new directors, screenwriters, editors, filmmakers and anyone who is interested in filmm to meet, exchange ideas and show their work. Submissions are welcome all year round.

Miss Representation is a documentary that examines how mainstream media contribute to the under-representation of women in positions of power and influence in America. The film challenges the media’s limited and often disparaging portrayals of women and girls, which make it difficult for women to achieve leadership positions and for the average woman to feel powerful herself.

Freedom Film Fest 2011

Freedom Film Festival

This is an OpenHouse event  

The Freedom Film Fest was initiated by Malaysian NGO Pusat Komas as a means to educate the public on the values of human rights. The festival’s circuit in recent years has included Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor, Perak and East Malaysia.

Due to Singapore’s shared political and cultural history with Malaysia, Singaporeans For Democracy will host the Singapore leg of the festival for the second year running. None of the films shown in the eight year history of FFF have been censored or banned by the Malaysian Government.
