Loud Mouth Loving is a series of Singaporean confessionals written and directed by Christopher Fok. It is the full-length debut of The Common Folk, a theatre company started by students of the NUS Theatre Studies Program.
We hope that the piece will draw attention to the little performances in the everyday that often illuminate the human spirit and its complexities. An array of character masks have been hand-crafted by the actors themselves.
This masked theatre piece will be performed by an ensemble cast undergone training with Christina Sergeant, Peter Sau and Syv Bruzeau in Commedia Dell’arte, Noh, and Butoh respectively.

It explores art activities that are spatial, the way in which performance is linked to cultural, ethnic and geographical elements of the body, and at the same time exploring how all these elements can be bounded to the global, technological, cultural and economic shifts in our daily life.
This session of R.I.T.E.S features performances by Chand Chandramohan, Jason Lim and Marla Bendini. Click on to learn more about the artists.

In a city that is rapidly changing and reproducing itself, we realize the fluidity of our identities, and often end up feeling lost. We propose that by looking at our personal history, even as it is being made, we can tear it apart, reject it and form a new history. This work will be like CSI meets a fun house, where the audience moves from room to room. They are set to play a game for the duration of the performance. The objectives of this game are Observing, Listening and Questioning.
This performance was the recipient for Performance Open Call 2010.

The Artists Village Presents
By The Artists Village
Saturday 11 May 2013, 4pm – 9pm
Sunday 12 May 2013, 12pm – 8pm
The Substation Gallery
Admission: Free
The Artists Village Presents is an exhibition that revolves around the idea of earlier society and the appropriation of the works of the founding members of The Artists Village by the current members, as a tribute and a celebration of the 70th birthday of the founder Tang Da Wu this year.
Reflecting on current situations where the direction and focus of art have led to commercially-driven agendas or art as one of the usual key performance indicators, The Artists Village Presents is based on the beliefs stated in our manifesto, “The Artists Village is dedicated to the promotion and encouragement of experimental and alternative arts in Singapore. It endeavors to establish an open space for artists to mature at their own pace, and to provide an environment conducive for artists to experiment, experience and exchange ideas.”
The exhibition seeks to reinstate the society’s position towards looking at contemporary art, critically re-looking and examining existing assumptions, values and concepts of art making in Singapore”, and returning to the notion on how The Artists Village was started – To make art with a heart.
