minimART is a platform for young contemporary artists to showcase and sell their original fine art works ranging from painting, sculpture, and photography, to installation work, performance, and other forms of contemporary art. All works for sale are priced under $1,000.
This event is organised by artists for artists in Singapore! It aims to contribute to the development of local artistic practice, in particular young contemporary artists. It also hopes to plant the seed of art collecting among art enthusiasts with affordable artworks.

“Distro”, short for ‘distribution’, has been an integral part of the underground music community-network since the 90s. Run on principles and mechanisms similar to the slightly more reknowned concept of the ‘bedroom label’, the distro has provided those involved in underground punk/hardcore/metal with an avenue to discover and explore music and literature that would otherwise be almost impossible to find.
Also acting as an alternative to corporate music chain-stores, the distro, while relatively obscure to those not in the loop, are far more accessible as both an enterprise and as a contact base within the DIY spectrum.

The Singapore Parliament is calling for names for consideration as NMPs (Nominated Members of Parliament) to be submitted by 8 December 2011.
Audrey Wong, who served as ‘arts’ NMP till Parliament was dissolved in May this year, has stepped down. She has been working with a small group of arts community members to sound out potential new arts NMPs over the past few weeks. Two meetings have been convened, a few potential candidates approached and Janice Koh has agreed to step forward as our next arts voice in Parliament. SlutWalk started in Toronto in February 2011 as a response to Constable Michael Sanguinetti’s statement at a York University safety forum that “women should avoid dressing like sluts in order to not be victimized.” This sparked a backlash which has resulted in SlutWalk groups forming all over the world — from Seoul to New York City to Helsinki to Delhi to Johannesburg — to protest a culture that blames victims for rape, and to challenge the attitudes that come with that, which usually leave sexual crimes under-reported as a result. We recognise that we need to not only put a stop to acts of sexual violence, but also to excuses that allow such violence to continue. For more info visit: http://slutwalksg.com/
