Purnama 2: Celebrating the People Behind Films

Purnama 2 is a short film screening event organized by Singapore Malay Film Society (SMFS). It strives to be an annual fixture that provides filmmakers the opportunity and exposure to showcase their films. The committee members hope that such an event will allow filmmakers to collaborate and network with one another and produce more short and feature films for Singapore’s film industry.

Purnama first began during Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2008, showcasing 11 short films by local directors. As Hari Raya Aidilfitri is based on the sighting of a new moon in the Islamic calendar, Purnama, meaning full moon in the Malay language, was an apt name for the event.
