- Have you ever wanted to write a play but didn’t know where to start?
- Have you written a play in the past but don’t know what to do with it?
- Would you like to write a play and have it performed all around the world?
Then this playwriting workshop is for you!
It doesn’t matter if you’ve written a play before or would like to try it for the first time, there will be something for everyone in this fun and exciting workshop.
Dean Lundquist, award-winning playwright, director and graduate of the dramatic writing program at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, leads this five session workshop that will help you generate new work and formulate a strategy for how to find a home and market for your play.
Based in a series of exercises that gradually grow more complex, the workshop helps participants to understand the basic elements of drama, conflict, character and action. The exercises also help the aspiring playwright to become increasingly sophisticated in the use of dramatic forms that will help turn simple ideas into viable plays.
Participants will write a ten-minute and a one-act play. Outside work will be required.
