Celebrating its 7th season this year, Singapore Short Cuts continues to be one of the most popular and widely anticipated showcases of local short films in Singapore.
The programme features a diverse selection of Singapore short films, from documentaries to animation and experimental work, with post-screening discussion with the filmmakers. Some of the filmmakers whose films have been featured in Singapore Short Cuts include Eric Khoo, Tan Pin Pin, Victric Thng, Eva Tang, Wee Li Lin and Boo Junfeng.

The 6th Singapore Short Film Festival is Singapore’s only dedicated international short film festival that showcases award-winning short films from around the world! Previously a biennial film festival, the programme has grown to become an annual event and will incorporate the long-running Asian Film Symposium (AFS) which examines industry trends and rising young film talents in Asia through S-Express, the traveling short film programme that reaches Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines and Indonesia.
Two films from the festival will walk away with a Voice Award (International) and Voice Award (Singapore)!
So if you’ve got a short film (30min or less) made after Jan 2008, send it over today!
Exhibition formats accepted are DVD, miniDV (PAL) and 16mm.

Asian Hot Shots Berlin is currently preparing its 3rd edition. The film festival 2010 will take place 20th-24th October in cinema Moviemento in Kreuzberg. The focus country will be Singapore. In cooperation with the Warsaw Asian film festival ”Cinema in Five Flavours“ (21st-26th October 2010).
The CALL FOR ENTRIES for the 3rd Asian Hot Shots Berlin has started NOW.

MUJERDOC aims to be a platform for the exhibition of DOCUMENTARIES that contribute to the promotion of the equal possibilities of men and women. The access of women to the social, civil, political and sexual rights; the equality of opportunities; the defense of…… the different cultures between people, the stereotypes and roles associated to women in the sexist social model; the oppression practiced by some religions against the freedom to choose and the freedom of sexual identity, and more.
The festival is organized by NGO Mujeres del Mundo from Soria, Spain. Now in its second edition, it will carry on valuing, especially the gender focused works that are carried out with the respect on the cultural, sexual and ethnic diversity, as a key to the construction of a world that would settle down on the principles such as respect, equality, justice and freedom.

Selected works will be screened in the Festival that takes place in Soria, Spain, in the middle of October 2010. The selected documentaries will compete for the following awards:
-Award for Woman: 2.000 Euros (works eligible will be the ones in which the director is a woman).

King Bonn International New Media Shorts Season One
Goals and Purposes
The 1st Chinese International (King Bonn) New Media Shorts Award, as the first of its kind in New Media in China, is one of the events in China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair. It aims to reward excellent creations of new media shorts in China and overseas, and to nurture new media film and television talents with ambition, passion and creativity.
Officially launched on 2 February 2010, the King Bonn International New Media Shorts Award is co-hosted by the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television and Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government, organized by the Culture, Sports and Tourism Administration of Shenzhen Municipality and Shenzhen Media Group.
Theme: New Media, New Life, New Future.

An entire week of short film screenings every night showcasing all Singaporean short films produced in 2009!
Deadline extended till 28 December 2009! Also, there is a change regarding the criteria for submissions. Instead of made in 2009, we will now be accepting films made in 2008/ 2009. But they must have been released after 1 January 2009 i.e. first screened publicly in 2009.
The Singapore Short Film Awards will re-cap all that’s happened in the Singapore short film scene in 2009! It’ll be a screening for posterity’s sake, nostalgia or just for the hectic of experiencing a slice of yesteryear on film. There will be screenings, awards, winners and prizes! Submit your film for consideration in the following categories:
1. Best Director
2. Best Animation
3. Best Fiction
4. Best Documentary
5. Best Editing
6. Best Soundtrack
7. Best Art Direction
8. Best Cinematography
9. Best Performance
10. Best Script
An Honorary Award will also be presented to a Singapore filmmaker who has contributed significantly to the film community through his/her short films.
If you have made a short film, no longer than 30 minutes, in 2008/2009, but screened publicly only in 2009, we want to see it! It can be in the running for the Singapore Short Film Awards 2010!

Preparations for the 11th Amateur and Independent Film Festival KAN 2010 have just begun. Between the 21st and 25th of April 2010, Polish and foreign independent film productions will be presented in Wrocław arthouse cinema ‘Warszawa’. We invite everyone who wants to share their works to join us in another decade of making and discovering independent cinema.
Films for the contest will be chosen by KAN 2010 Programme Committee, and the qualified films will fight for KANewka for the Best Foreign Film. Only productions which running time does not exceed 30 minutes can be submitted. There is no entry fee.

In June 2008, the Toronto Singapore Film Festival went to Vancouver, thus the Vancouver Singapore Film Festival (VSFF) was born.
The VSFF returns in September 2009. It aims to be a celebration of the best in local, national, and international films by Singaporean talents. The screening venue will be the popular Cinemark Tinsletown Cinema in greater downtown Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
They welcome films of all genres and all lengths by Singaporean filmmakers and/or subject matters.
For interested film makers, please submit the following:
– 2 DVD screeners (region free)
– Director’s statement
– A 50-word description of the film or video (for promotional purposes)
– Director(s) biography – this would include: age, personal filmography, educational background, current occupation (are you a full-time filmmaker?), future filmmaking plans; also include a portrait photograph
– Full cast list and a complete and accurate list of credits
– Stills from the film (high resolution electronic files preferred – 300 dpi or higher)
– Press kit and/or electronic press kit with posters if available.

The Toronto Singapore Film Festival (TSFF) is one of the few film festivals devoted to Singaporean films outside Singapore , and has been playing to full houses since its inception. Films previously screened include Singapore Ga Ga, The Art of Flirting, S 11, The High Cost of Living, 18 Grams of Love, Feet Unbound, Perth, 4:30, Just Follow Law and Singapore Dreaming
Returning for its fourth year, the 2009 TSFF promises to build on the success of the past three years. The festival organizers invite all interested Singaporean filmmakers to submit their works, and partake in this international and intercultural expedition!
All submissions, accompanied by the submission form, should reach the Toronto-Singapore Film Festival committee by 19 January 2009.

The Torino Film Festival’s director Nanni Moretti invites submissions for the 26th edition from 21st to 29th November 2008.

All the films submitted have to be Italian premieres.
