Featuring mixed-media paintings and ceramic works, this exhibition reflects the spirituality of both the painting and the painter. The combination of colours and ceramics allows the physical form to strengthen its visual impact, often combining the beauty of both elements to convey the fate of a woman as the symbolic conduit for the birth of life, strength, spirituality and as a source of seductive temptation.
Fern Min Eng graduated from Nanyang Academy of Fine Art (NAFA) and pursued her studies at the Shanghai Academy of Chinese Painting, under Mao Guolun and Shi Dawei. Despite working as a part-time lecturer in NAFA, she also organises art teaching activities for teachers in primary and secondary schools. For the past two decades, she has exhibited widely in Thailand, India, Taiwan and Hong Kong. She has won the Merit Award for National Defence Art Competition in 1991 and the UOB Painting of the year in 1991 and 1992.
