Requirements: Participants are required to have an SLR (film or digital) camera.

The workshop is the next step for people who have understood the basic techniques and are already applying them in their regular shoot. It aims to inspire participants to discover and nurture their own photographic vision through a series of interesting assignments.

Besides learning to uncover their potential to feel and create, participants can also expect to engage in detailed discussions with the instructor to improve the quality of their work. This workshop designed for people who wish to develop their personal vision in photography and it includes a guided photography outing led by the instructor.

Participants have to bring their own SLR (film or digital) to the photography workshop.

About the Course

This course expands on the curriculum introduced in the Basic Photography Course. It is best suited to individuals who have a firm grasp of basic techniques and principles, and who have regular photographic experience. This course aims to inspire participants to develop their own photographic vision through a series of interesting assignments and in-depth discussions, including a guided photography outing.

About the Instructor

Ray Tan began his career as an editorial and documentary photographer. In 2003 he started his first major story on Chinese Opera, documenting the lives of actors and actresses from the surviving opera troupes in Singapore. Ray has also completed numerous other projects including documenting the life of the oldest philanthropist in Singapore, and telling the story of a group of blind musicians in Vietnam. Ray has been teaching since 2006, and has taught photography at Hwa Chong Institution, Hwa Chong International School, Anderson Junior College, the Institute of Technical Education, The Photographers’ Gallery, and the Substation. His photographs have been exhibited at The Singapore History Museum and The Photographers’ Gallery. His clients include the Ministry of Education and People’s Association.
