Loop Theory: Improvisation Lab uses somatic practices and improvisation games to prepare players for entering into a state of endless possibility. We warm up into dancing by connecting body-mind to the invisible forces around us and to each other. We ask ourselves questions that may lead to more questions, but with each creating a loop of understanding for ourselves and for each other. We will leave with heightened awareness, equally energized and rested.

Bernice is obsessed with the little muscles, bones, nooks and crannies in the body. She believes in people discovering the consciousness in their bodies, an intelligence that comes through listening deeply to our bodies in relation to the environment. She is an honours graduate in dance from The Ohio State University where she was a founding member of the Performance Improvisation Ensemble. She is deeply influenced by the layering practices of Ohad Naharin’s Gaga as well as various improvisational and somatic practices.

The classes are open to anybody interested in their thinking bodies and individual physicality.
Musicians are welcome – please contact Bernice beforehand – to accompany as well as move.
