Closing date: 9 April 2018, 8pm

The Substation is looking for printmaking individuals and collectives to be our Associate Printmakers. Winners will get a persuasively-priced prize of $1,999 and a production budget to produce a handbill series of 4 heritage-themed editions over 7 months (April to October 2018).

Our theme for 2018 is all things heritage—the contemporary forms it takes, and all manner of conversation around it. Over the year we’ll roll out sub-themes addressing facets of the national narrative, starting with two staples of the local heritage scene: the exoticised Singapore Girl and commodified Peranakan culture.

To apply, deliver us one A2-sized print responding to either the Singapore Girl OR Peranakan culture, and email us your design, portfolio, and CV by Monday, 9 April, 8pm.

The results will be announced on Friday, 13 April, 5pm.

Requirements:

  • Be based in Singapore.

  • Have printmaking experience.

  • Be able to handle your own production (sourcing of materials and equipment, etc.).
