Gnothi Seauton is the anonymous ancient Greek exhortation “Know Thyself”. More than 2000 years later, in the Singapore of the 21st century is this expression interesting or even relevant? Beyond the many layers which we cover (or hide?) ourselves with, like a blanket, what is our true self? Who are we? Do we know? Do we even want to find out?

The curator offered this proposition to several Singaporean and international artists and the exhibition is the result of these explorations. Viewing this exhibition is not merely a sensory experience of somebody else’s concerns, but an encouragement to stop and look into ourselves amidst the frantic pace of our lives.
