First Take, happening every 1st Monday of the month, is a popular screening of new local short films followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers. A platform for new filmmakers and anyone who is interested in filmmaking to meet, exchange ideas and show their work. ANANTHI / DON ARAVIND / 7 MIN / 2010 / PG

A heart-warming tale of a granddaughter and her terminally ill grandfather who is sent to a hospice to spend his last days.

Don Aravind was a graduate from Ngee Ann Polytechnic’s School of Film and Media Studies. He is currently pursuing his degree in the fine arts in Nanyang Technological University’s School of Art, Design and Media.

 


 

IN BETWEEN / SHAMSYDAR ANI / 8 MIN / 2010 / PG

Farhana and Marcus are two lovers on individual soul-searching journeys. Where they end, no one knows.

Shamsydar Ani is an author for the Singapore Malay Film Society’s website. This is her directorial debut.

Andy had a terrible nightmare of killing his fiancee, Sara, with his own bare hands.

Seri Zafirah is studying in Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts majoring in Video Production (Year 2) and this is her first short fllm.

 


 

AXE-MAN / JEFFREY ZAUHARI / 7 MIN / 2010 / PG

A devoted rock guitarist has a unique talent, not only with his musical skills, but he also has the power to change the world. He changes the perspective of ‘rock’, something which had always been negative.

Jeffrey directed and produced MTV for Kaleidoscopicuriousity – No.1 MTV for MTV Boom 2002 & 7th for MTV Boom Asia 2002.

He also edited AKU, a short film which won the platinum award for the Schools Digital Media Awards 2009.

 


 

EPIPHANY / HAN XUEMEI / 23 MIN / 2010 / PG

On a particular morning, three vulnerable individuals unknowingly cross paths and play a part in changing one another’s destinies.

Xuemei has directed and produced many short films. She edited television trailers for many of Channel 8′s programmes during her internship at Mediacorp. Some of the projects she has worked on include the TrueHearts Charity Show commissioned by the Community Chest, and National Day Parade. She is currently a freelance editor.
