First Take is a popular screening of new local short films happening every 1st Monday of the month. The screening is followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers, and best of all, it’s free! Sofrie Yusoff is a current student at the Film, Sound and Video course in Ngee Ann Polytechnic. He is currently working on his graduation film.

This is the story of love taken for granted, life abused, and relationships abandoned, in which the charaters are left only with darkness, consumed by their regret and sorrow.
Devamanikandan is a student at Institute of Technical Education (ITE). Thriar is his second film.

Mutual dreaming – a dream shared by two people in which they meet and engage with each other – is a rare and fascinating experience. This animation transports viewers along a journey of fantasy through the individual perspectives of a boy and a girl, both who meet on a train and embark on a mutual dream filled with imagination and affection.
Jerrold Chong is an aspiring 19 year-old filmmaker who recently graduated from Hwa Chong Institution, and was a scholar of the Art Elective Programme (AEP). He has directed and created a number of of short films and animations. He was part of a team of 4 which won 1st runners-up in the Nemathon II Animation Competition. His short film titled Wonders of Me(dia) won best picture in the Creative Videos Award 2010. He also directed a film titled The Day the Bus Stood Still, commissioned by the Singapore 2034 Film Project in 2009. You and I Dream was an official selection at the 23rd Singapore International Film Festival.

Three best friends fall in love with the same guy and have to choose between love and friendship.
An ITE College West student in her second year majoring in Digital Audio Video Production, Ruzanna Binte Rozan Jaya wishes to pursue a career in the filmmaking industry in the future. Three reflects the memories and friendship she treasures from school.

Complacency is a black-and-white short silent comedy that tells of a man searching around Singapore for an answer to satisfaction in life for his unhappy wife. It is shot with simply an iPhone and a minimal budget.
Szu Kiong, a self-trained filmmaker, has contributed to a variety of Singaporean independent films. His works, supported by the Singapore Film Commission, include My Keys (comedy/fantasy), The Triumph (film noir) and The Forest Spirits (fantasy/wuxia). This time, without any funding, he uses an iPhone to create Complacency (silent comedy) which is in the tradition of the hilarious Charlie Chaplin’s silent films.

C.J. Harvaraj is currently studying at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts majoring in Video Production. He directed a documentary style short film, Hermeneutics Of Tattoo (2010), a documentary titled Film History from 1980s to 2000s (2010) and has worked as a Director Of Photography on 2 student short films, Tragedy (2010) and Gambling (2010).
