The Melbourne International Comedy Festival is one of the three largest comedy festivals in the world and its Roadshow is coming to Singapore for the fourth year running. Catch some signature irreverent Aussie humour that crosses cultural boundaries for a night of hilarity. Something this good is sure to sell fast and 2007 was a sell-out!
Featuring Dave Thornton, Denise Scott, Hannah Gadsby and Sammy J (winner of 2008 Melbourne Comedy Festival The Age Critics' Award) and Dave Callan as the MC!
No admittance to people under the age of 16 years.
Featuring:
Dave Callan
Dave Callan will be your MC for the evening! Whether an intimate pub crowd, a sold out to capacity theatre or the amorphous mass of consumers that populate the mediasphere, Dave is a superb host who can break the ice a la Titanic, or merely melt it craftily away at the edges, crafting a superb and intricate swan (other animals by negotiation).
Featuring:
Dave thornton
With his accessible humour and free flowing style, Dave's success as a comic has quickly broadened into a range of performance credits on TV, radio and stage. His performance at last year's Melbourne Comedy Festival in Melbourne scored him a "Best Newcomer" nomination for his solo show. For more info, please visit www.davidthornton.com.au
Featuring:
Denise Scott
Denise Scott has been treading the boards for longer than she cares to remember, but it is this wealth of experience that makes her one of Australia's strongest live comic performers. Since her start in the biz in the early 1980s. Scotty has been making people laugh with her blend of personal stories and topical observations. "Scott affirms her status as one of the country's funniest!" The Age, Melbourne, Australia.
Featuring:
Hannah Gadsby
Hannah Gadsby's biggest achievements in life are in the fields of injury and illness. She has been hit by three cars, fallen off the back of a truck, ridden a bike into a glass greenhouse and slipped on chicken fat in the delicatessen of a major supermarket chain. She boasts an impressive list of older persons' illnesses including gallstones, pancreatitis and shingles. She has quite the collection of small to medium sized scars.
Featuring:
Sammy J
Winner of The Age Critics' Award 2008 at the Melbourne Comedy Festival. He sings, he plays piano, he tells jokes. In Sammy J's own words, "Basically I'm a skinny bastard who sings on stage. I'm the classic nerdy kid at school who needed something to stop getting wedgies, and I turned to comedy." Quote from Laura Dannen's interview on p91 in TimeOut Singapore's July 2008 issue.
