About the Course
This basic photography workshop is limited to eight participants. The course is tailored to those interested in improving their photographic skills, and covers basic photographic theory, camera function, composition and exposure. The course includes proprietary day and night exposure techniques exclusive to this workshop. The workshop includes three photography outings that will allow participants to practice and apply they theory they’ve learnt during sessions.
About the Instructor
Ray Tan began his career as an editorial and documentary photographer. In 2003 he started his first major story on Chinese Opera, documenting the lives of actors and actresses from the surviving opera troupes in Singapore. Ray has also completed numerous other projects including documenting the life of the oldest philanthropist in Singapore, and telling the story of a group of blind musicians in Vietnam. Ray has been teaching since 2006, and has taught photography at Hwa Chong Institution, Hwa Chong International School, Anderson Junior College, the Institute of Technical Education, The Photographers’ Gallery, and the Substation. His photographs have been exhibited at The Singapore History Museum and The Photographers’ Gallery. His clients include the Ministry of Education and People’s Association.
