Associate Artists / Visual / Khairuddin Hori
Eleven years after graduating with a Diploma in Fine Art (Sculpture) from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Art, Khairuddin Hori (Khai)completed a Masters of Arts (Fine Art) from the Open University, UK, conducted at LaSalle-SIA College of the Arts in 2006.
Born in 1974 in Singapore, he has explored and presented works and concepts through various mediums and across diverse disciplines such as theatre, painting, sculpture, installation and performance art. His multifarious practice has seen him in several incarnations, from Associate Director of Teater Ekamatra, a local Malay-language theatre company, appointment as Associate Artist (Visual Arts) by The Substation to current helming of newfound contemporary visual arts studio, Wunderspaze. Khai has been known to direct and create daring productions such as Die Faustus Die!, which was staged on the façade of The Substation building along with the curation of several exhibitions including Berita Harian, a showcase of nine young contemporary Singaporean-Malay artists (2003), Thai-Singapore collaborative project, One On Other (About Studio, Bangkok, 2005)and the presentation of three emerging artists from Southeast Asia through Open SEA (2006).
