Instead of showing a re-enactment, the key moments are physically represented by a tribe of birds. The documentary encapsulates the usage of make-up, costumes and lighting. Though stories of foreign workers are often told through the media, Broken Wings aim to engage the audience by using physical theatre to tell the story of a foreign worker.

The artists are concerned with the rapid pace of urban development, especially the adverse effects on the environment and the behaviour of its inhabitants. The animation shows the plight of creatures when their land is being developed and how it is being rebuilt with the help of hundreds of recycled toy figurines that is collected around Fukuoka.
