The Substation is Singapore's first independent contemporary arts center, aimed at nurturing and challenging Singapore artists, providing an open space
for artistic experimentation, and also fostering regional and international arts networks. Since 1990, The Substation has worked with some of Singapore's most critically acclaimed artists, writers and intellectuals,
as well as younger and emerging artists. In addition, we
are committed to facilitating artistic dialogue between countries in the region and the world, and forge closer
ties with our international counterparts.
The Substation is a non-profit organization and registered IPC, which relies on financial and in-kind support from the general public, commercial organizations and government ministries to cover the costs of operatingand developing arts & educational programmes. Donations to The Substation attract a 2.5x tax exemption.
Moving Images is The Substation's year-round
film programme dedicated to supporting local and independent film in Singapore and nurturing emerging filmmakers. Set up in 1997, Moving Images is the most established regularly-running film programme in Singapore. From organizing film screenings and festivals, to workshops and seminars, Moving Images' also presents annual events like the Asian Film Symposium and Singapore Short Film Festival, and organizes the only Indie Doc Fest and Experimental Film Forum in Singapore.
More than just a screening venue, Moving Images also actively connects Singapore films to international festivals and has become an important platform for local and Asian filmmakers, both new and experienced, to screen their work, meet and share ideas. In the past years, Moving Images has nurtured award-winning Singapore filmmakers like Royston Tan, Wee Li Lin, Victric Thng, Ho Tzu Nyen, Tan Pin Pin, Sherman Ong - just to name a few.

Objectifs is a visual arts centre dedicated to promoting photography and filmmaking. The centre provides instruction in photography and filmmaking at different skill levels. Apart from our regular courses, we offer customised workshops for schools and corporations.
Our residencies, professional programmes and the curated exhibitions at Objectifs Gallery are developmental platforms focused on nurturing Asian artists. Through Objectifs Films, we also promote local and Southeast Asian short films and feature films worldwide.
